PERSONALIZED CARE IN RANCHO CUCAMONGA
Bell’s Palsy Support in Rancho Cucamonga
Bell's palsy. Care alongside your medical team.
Blissful Wellness offers supportive treatment for people with Bell's palsy in Rancho Cucamonga. After medical evaluation, your treatment may combine acupuncture with individualized Chinese herbal therapy when appropriate. Sudden facial weakness needs prompt medical evaluation first. Once you have been evaluated, we discuss your symptoms, your timeline, and your current medical care to see whether supportive care may fit.

First, get evaluated
Sudden facial weakness is a medical priority.
Bell's palsy is a sudden weakness or drooping on one side of the face. Other conditions, including stroke, can look similar, so it is a diagnosis made by a medical clinician. In the guideline from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, oral steroids are recommended for patients 16 years and older within 72 hours of symptom onset, unless contraindicated. For that reason, we ask you to be evaluated before booking with us.
Call 911 for new, sudden facial drooping or weakness. It can be a sign of stroke, even without other symptoms. Arm or leg weakness, trouble speaking, confusion, vision loss, or a severe sudden headache are also emergency warning signs. Facial weakness after a head injury needs emergency assessment.
Contact a medical clinician promptly for a rash or blisters around the ear, hearing changes, severe ear pain, or an eye that does not close fully.
What brings you here?
Different patterns. A thoughtful assessment.
These descriptions help start a conversation. They do not establish a diagnosis.
Early onset (first days to weeks)
Weakness often develops over hours to a couple of days. Many people improve over weeks to months. If you are in this window, medical care comes first, and we can discuss supportive care alongside it.
Slow or incomplete recovery
Some people have lingering weakness, tightness, or uneven movement after the first weeks. We review your history and what your medical team has told you.
Long-standing effects
Some people notice ongoing tightness, twitching, or movement that feels linked to the affected side. We discuss what is realistic and when a referral may help.

Chinese herbal medicine
When appropriate, your doctor may recommend a formula based on your symptoms and traditional Chinese medicine assessment. We review your medicines, supplements, and pregnancy plans first. Capsules are purchased separately. Explore Chinese herbal medicine
Myofascial release
When neck, jaw, or facial muscle tension is part of your presentation, soft-tissue care may help with comfort. Pressure is adjusted to your tolerance. Explore myofascial release
Supportive care complements medical care. It does not replace evaluation or treatment of sudden facial weakness.

What does acupuncture research show?
Research on acupuncture for Bell's palsy is limited. Study findings are not a guarantee of individual benefit.
Cochrane review
A Cochrane review of acupuncture for Bell's palsy concluded that the quality of the available trials was too low to say whether acupuncture helps or harms. Read the Cochrane review
Recent overview of reviews
A 2025 review looked at earlier research on facial weakness. Most findings were too uncertain to tell us reliably how much acupuncture helps. Read the 2025 overview
Clinical guideline
The AAO-HNSF guideline recommends oral steroids started early and makes no recommendation for or against acupuncture. Read the guideline fact sheet
Electroacupuncture review · 2026
A newer review found possible short-term benefits from treatment that included electroacupuncture, which uses a mild electrical current through needles. But the studies differed greatly, and lasting benefits are unclear. This does not prove that our acupuncture and herbal treatment improves Bell’s palsy recovery.

Bell’s palsy questions.
Understanding your symptoms
What is Bell's palsy?
Bell's palsy is a sudden weakness or drooping on one side of the face, linked to the facial nerve. The cause is often unclear. A medical clinician makes the diagnosis after considering other possible causes.
How is it different from a stroke?
Both can cause a drooping face. A stroke may also cause arm or leg weakness, trouble speaking, confusion, or vision loss, but you cannot tell the difference by looking. Call 911 for new, sudden facial drooping or weakness, even without other symptoms. Do not try to diagnose the cause yourself.
How long does recovery take?
It varies. Many people improve over weeks to months, while some recover more slowly or incompletely. Your medical clinician can give you an outlook based on your examination.
Choosing your care
Can acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy be used together for Bell's palsy?
They may be combined as supportive treatment after medical evaluation, when appropriate for your history and current care. We review your medicines, supplements, and pregnancy plans before recommending herbs. Research is limited, and evidence does not establish that this combination reliably improves Bell's palsy recovery. It does not replace prescribed treatment. Recommended capsules are purchased separately.
Should I get medical care first?
Yes. We ask you to be evaluated by a medical clinician before booking with us. The AAO-HNSF guideline recommends oral steroids for patients 16 years and older within 72 hours of symptom onset, unless contraindicated, so do not delay medical care to schedule with us.
Do I stop my steroids or antivirals?
No. Continue prescribed medicine unless your prescribing clinician advises a change. We can discuss supportive care alongside your plan.
Do I need acupuncture to have an herbal consultation?
No. Herbal recommendations can be discussed during acupuncture care or in a separate consultation. We review your medicines, supplements, and pregnancy plans first. Capsules are purchased separately.
Planning your visit
When should I start?
After you have been medically evaluated. Call us and we will discuss timing based on your symptoms and your medical team's advice.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on your timeline, symptoms, and how you respond. We discuss a plan at your first visit and reassess along the way. We cannot promise a number of visits or a result.
Is Bell's palsy care covered by insurance?
Acupuncture coverage depends on your plan, the diagnosis, and medical necessity. We do not bill standalone massage, cupping, or herbal medicine to personal health insurance. Use our Verify My Insurance form or call (909) 276-7168 before booking.
